J&M DAVIDSON x Andrea Allen
For the Spring Summer 2020 season, we have collaborated with revered English landscape painter Andrea Allen on a capsule collection of bags and accessories.
Artist Andrea Allen met J&M Davidson’s creative director Katie Hillier as a neighbour in the village of Great Tew in Oxfordshire. The two became friends, sharing walks and inspirations. The collaboration sees Allen’s love for colourful, textural artwork sitting on a selection of our best selling bags and accessories. Elements from Allen’s paintings are brought to life on leather and canvas, and inspiration has also been taken from her painterly overalls and paint splashed palette.
'I met Andrea in Oxfordshire, I have a cottage in the village of Great Tew and Andrea moved in with her family… we immediately became very close friends sharing stories of London and fashion and art… often going on long walks with her dogs she would take little pics of the countryside – all used for rear hatch and reference for her amazing paintings. I’m so in awe of Andreas talents, for all types of media from oil paint to collage, to embroidery… her eye for capturing the colours of the British countryside and coastlines is incredible and every picture she makes, you feel like you are right there when you look at it. Andrea uses everything around her as influence and never wastes anything… I have very special treasures that Andrea has made for me, from painting to collages of me and my husband to denim cushions made from Levi’s! Nothing goes to waste and she finds beauty in everything she sees…’ – Katie Hillier
